Eagles

Welcome to Eagles Class (Class 3 Y3&4)

We are taught by Mrs Richards who is assisted by Mrs Sandra Purdy and Mrs Claire Winterbourne.

Our topic for the summer term is 'Around the World in 80 days'. For the first two weeks we will be focusing on where we live,  in Long Wittenham before travelling off to visit the countries of Europe, including Russia.  before travelling across to Japan, islands of the Pacific the USA before returning home.

On our journey we will be learning about the countries we visit, their culture, key geographical features and in particular rivers that run through these countries.  This ties in with out english this term, as we are studying 'Wind in the Willows' by Kenneth Grahame.

English

We are learning how to write 'travel diaries' this term as we centre around the world.  We will also be learning how to write descriptively to help people imagine what different these countries were like in a time before cameras!  Finally, our story 'Wind in the Willows' will provide inspiration for a new story set along a river in a different country.

 Maths

In maths we adopt a mastery approach, which means we study each topic for longer and with more depth to ensure children have a secure understanding before moving on.  Our topics this term are 'Length, Perimeter and Area', 'Measures' and 'Mass and Capacity'. We continue to challenge ourselves with TT Rockstars at home.  Use the link below to become a Rock Legend!

Maths Challenge of the Week

George and Grace have ordered lemonade.  Grace has a small lemonade which is 250ml. George has a large lemonade which is 4/10 more than a small.  How many millilitres does George have?

P.E

P.E continues to be taught by Mr Atkins on Wednesdays and on Tuesdays Miss Smith will take then for P.E at Berinsfield.  Please ensure they have their PE kit in every day.

Homework

Maths homework should be brought back on Fridays.  New homework, based on that week's maths will be set and given out the same day.  Current Affairs homework should be brought in on Wednesdays and will be returned on Thursdays.

We also have our "Around the World' challenge homework which can be brought in at any point and shared with the class.  These will be kept in school to share at our 'Showcase' on the 16th July.  More importantly though, on Fridays we will send home tricky spellings your child has come across during the week in their blue spelling notebook.

If you have any questions about life in Eagles class, please contact me either through the school office or ClassDojo.
