School Leaders and School Council

School Council

Our school council comprises of a child from each year group.  They meet regularly with the Headteacher to share views, plan events and make suggestions for future improvements. There is a Suggestion Box in the Welcome Area where children can share their ideas with the School Council.

The School Council have made real contributions to the School Development plan, helped design the new playground markings and choose the new gym equipment, meeting with the representatives to negotiate an improved price! The Councillors choose, after consultation with their classmates, the Charity that will be supported each year. In the past they have organised a film evening, Wheelie Day, Long Wittenham's Got Talent and other events.

The aims of the School Council are:
•Provide a way for children to make their views and opinions known and for the headteacher and staff to respond to questions and suggestions.
•Plan events including fundraisers for the chosen charities and special days such as Children In Need and Comic Relief.
•Be involved in the School Development Plan.
•Represent the school at other meetings and events such as the Parish Council and Children's Parliament.
